In this blog, I will provide regular updates on how we are doing, and how the new technologies are working out. The finished boat will be on display at Malo’s ‘Open House’ in August 2008. Photos have now also been added and new albums will regularly been added during the construction.

The Hybrid Marine Project Moves into High Gear

The boating season in northern Europe is rapidly approaching, at the same time as we are about to sign the final contract with the European Union for the Hybrid Marine (HYMAR) project. After a rather slow year, and some frustrating delays in starting the project, we will soon be in high gear.

The Dusseldorf Boat Show, Jan 2008 The Dusseldorf boat show is enormous. It fills 17 huge halls and attracts over 250,000 visitors. If you want to pull together a meeting of European boatbuilders and marine suppliers, this is the place to do it. Accordingly, we held the first meeting of all the players in our bid to seek European Union funding for the marine hybrid research and development that my parallel hybrid diesel-electric project has sparked.

It’s been months since I reported on the ‘Nada’ project. My apologies – I’ve been very busy. ‘Nada’ has been in the water since mid June. My brother Chris and I arrived on June 20th for the commissioning process.

Once again, I’m way behind with the blog. There’s a great deal to report on. In spite of some fairly awful weather at times, we had some great cruising over the course of the summer on Sweden’s west coast.
